Seashaped

Visualizing the harsh winter conditions of the Belgian coast on film. Inspired by the battle these surfers bring against nature. Amplified by developing old photo rolls with marine algae and seawater.

Seashaped captures moments where resilience meets ritual — analog images of surfers who return to the cold, gray sea not for spectacle, but for solitude and connection. Each frame is shaped not only by light and salt air, but also by the unique chemical interactions of seaweed and brine used in the development process.

The series reflects a dialogue between body, film, and the shifting coastline — where motion becomes stillness, and stillness becomes material.
